Both models run on the same powertrain: an Interior permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. It has a power output of 15 kW, delivering 188 lb-ft of torque capacity and 201 horsepower. It has a lithium-ion polymer battery capable of 64.8 kWh and a power output of 182 kW. Both models have a maximum speed of 162 km/h.
Design Elements
Heated front seats are standard for both models, but only the Ultimate has ventilated front seats. The Ultimate is equipped with ambient lighting with 64 colours to choose from and a head-up display.
Both models have roof rails and body-colour body cladding, but the Ultimate can opt for a two-tone body colour. Full LED-line daytime running lights and turn signals inside the headlights and taillights are also exclusive to the flagship model. LED headlights, taillights, and automatic headlights are standard across the lineup.
Technology and Safety Features
Both trims have a 12.3-inch touchscreen display with audio and navigation controls, plus the BlueLink Connected Vehicle System. All models are compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and both come standard with cruise control and remote keyless entry. Luxury features include an eight-speaker Bose Radio premium audio system and a wireless charger.
The new Kona has a long list of safety features, and most of them are standard for all models. These include adaptive cruise control, lane following assist, lane keeping assist, blind spot collision warning, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist, and forward collision avoidance assist with pedestrian, cyclist, and junction-turning detection.
